ABOUT US

Block making has been an ancestral practice for Tahir’s family, with his great grandfather being a prominent block maker dating back 70 years. According to Tahir, his great grandfather collaborated with the Saadh community, working with the Fancy Dyeing and Printing Company, which was known for making blocks for the British and for European export. Originally, standard 6x6 blocks were made and exported. This craft has been carried on by his father and him throughout the years, diversifying blocks not only for use but also for decorative purposes. Small motifs and booties in blocks were carved by his father for commercial sale to students, designers, and individuals from all fields to access this traditional craft.
